It is all about the “small” stuff…. Part 2

There are provisions  that make my pay dependent on my patient’s health. At first glance, this does not sound too bad.  Let’s look a little deeper.  A patient’s health is not as simple as what I diagnose, treat, and prescribe.  I can prescribe a lifestyle and medicines.  But that does not mean the patient will follow it.  I cannot go home with them and make them take their medicines.  I cannot make them exercise.  I cannot make them pass up a Big Mac and instead eat grilled chicken and broccoli.  PEOPLE HAVE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEMSELVES!  However, it seems that society wants the opposite.  People don’t want to take responsibility for anything.  They want someone else to take the blame for their failures.  Now, I get to take the blame for when people don’t lose weight, don’t quit smoking then get cancer, etc…  That is just great.
